#23. Drop Box for Library Books

We have libraries in many malls and near our subway trains. And you don’t need to return them at the same place. You just drop them off anywhere you see the drop off box.

I remember a time when I was mesmerized by the librarian stamping on books with her huge chop. It looked so cool and I’ve always wanted to do that. That’s nostalgia. In reality I like that we can now borrow our books electronically with our ID cards and return them without any hassle.

We can borrow up to 4 books and keep them for 3 weeks. These days you can even search for the book you want online and when technology is used this way, I am happy.

I am with you on the whole nostalgia thing. I also loved that it was easy to see when your book was due back by checking the inside cover.
But, hey, I’d be happy to let go of all that in exchange for drop points like you have described.
I live in a small country town. Sometimes, I drive to the next country town and borrow a book from their library but I cannot return it through my local library which is very disappointing because it’s a one hundred and twenty K round-trip to the return chute.

Thanks for dropping by and sharing Karen. Yeah…there was something hypnotic about the way that huge stamp was pounded on the paper glued to the inside cover of library books.

To me a small country town sounds positively lovely 🙂 I can imagine that where you live must be very pretty surrounded by trees, flowers and birds?

It is very pretty here in Stanthorpe, Queensland: lots of orchards, vineyards, bush-land and granite outcrops.

It sounds like a wonderful place to live 🙂
