Imported Sand Filling Up the Shoreline as Kids Play at East Coast Beach

It was a lovely cool enough day to enjoy the beach. There were cute kids playing in the sand and even a monk appreciating nature. For the first time I saw how sand was added to the shoreline as this is reclaimed land after all. I wonder if that sand is from Malaysia?  Somehow swaying coconut trees add to that holiday feeling.  It’s the last day for the kids to enjoy themselves before school opens again after their 4 week holiday.

I have to be perfectly honest.  After visiting the white sand beaches in Australia under ideal cool temperatures 10 or more degrees lower than ours, I find myself yearning for those beaches.  I know I should count my blessings that we have a beach but of the two beaches in Singapore I prefer the one at Changi which is nearer the airport.  There you can actually see the underbellies of planes as they take off and land.  I will post about them one day once I dig out my old photos.  But the advantage of East Coast are the many cafes and pubs from which you can dine and have a lovely sea view. Changi beach is more pristine, because is just purely a beach and the sands are paler and more powdery.

I loved this Octopus kite. The kid who got his kite stuck in the tree could get this one to replace it.

Muzzling is sooo cruel…. I don’t know what Singaporeans have against dogs. They are pretty harmless animals.

Ross the Rottweiller was pretty docile unlike what I imagined. Hawk the great dane too. I guess the comfort level comes if you grew up with dogs.

I think a lot of people head to the beach on the weekend..to get away from the bustle of the city 🙂 It’s nice to just gaze out at the sea and feel the space….wish there weren’t so many oil tankers though.
