Kendall Responds: Little Kardashian Sister in a Bikini Just Wrong? Or Am I Too Old Fashioned?

Update: Kendall Jenner responds to critics of her bikini pictures in People Magazine. She reveals her dad Bruce Jenner was concerned.

“I am excited to be working as a model, doing what I love to do.” The Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star says her family is on board with her decision to model. “My entire family was very supportive, though my dad [Bruce Jenner] was a bit concerned at first, he knows that I am responsible enough that I wouldn’t do anything I wasn’t ready to do, or didn’t want to do.” Kendall may be inspired by supermodels like Cindy Crawford and Gisele, but she’s not looking to grow up too fast either. “Going into this shoot, it was never my intention to be provocative or too racy. It was a beach shoot, and I was wearing beachwear. I am happy with my age, and am not trying to rush into anything too soon. I look forward to all the milestones my teens have to offer–Sweet 16, turning 18, and so on.”

Bindi Irwin seems like a well adjusted child at 12.

And there’s sweet 13 year old Abigail Breslin.  If you are child on the red carpet I guess this is an appropriate outfit.  Her lavender toenails and red sandals are cute and age appropriate.

And then there’s the Kardashian clan’s little sister.

There’s no denying that Kendall Kardashian is a beautiful girl and is modelling in this photo, but posing in a bikini seems wrong somehow.  If she were my daughter I would be nervous about allowing this.  I wonder if Bruce Jenner, her dad, has any say in this at all.  Remember she’s only a year older than Abigail and 2 years older than Bindi at 14.  The images are from Huffington Post.

As older stars are expected to botox and plump their faces with fat to look like babies, the modelling industry is using younger and younger girls for their shoots and applying make-up on them to make them appear like grown women.  I think the whole idea is warped.

Without all that make-up, she’s obviously just a little girl. She should have stuck with this kind of more wholesome modelling till she’s a bit older? Or am I really being a fuddy duddy? What do you think?

Definitely think her parents should have made her wait longer, because there will be ample time in the future for the media to be all over her, sexualising her, objectifying her. Let her be a little girl for as long as she can before all this pressure descends upon her!

And it’s definitely creepy to be so sexualised in a string bikini at the age of 14.

I can’t get it out of my head that her dad is wholesome Bruce Jenner the Olympian gold medalist. I hardly watch the reality show or much Tv these days, but he always seems to have no say in their photos shoots etc.

      • Kirsten says:

I don’t actually know who Bruce Jenner is, and have a very very foggy concept of who the Kardashians are even.

But still, it’s not fair to expect a kid to grow up so fast!

Kirsten, you summed it up well that it is very creepy to sexualise a 14-year-old child in a string bikini. If her parents allow this to happen, let alone she is still a kid, then this is irresponsible parenting.

The problem is, puberty seems to be hitting girls earlier and earlier thanks to over nutrition. They have bodies of adults yet society expects them to still remain as children. It’s hard, especially coming from a family like the Kardashians.

  3. bookjunkie says:

That’s so true even in Singapore. The kids who are in primary one and just 7 years old look so much older…..back in the 70’s and 80’s they would pass for 10 year olds.

I think where puberty hit us closer to 12 some are experiencing it now at 9??

Ewww…this looks wrong on that Kardashian kid. Number two, you’re not a fuddy duddy when you believe this is wrong. How can her family allow her to model like that? It is so ironic that her dad is renowned for being wholesome but why allow this on her? Bindi looks more decent and innocent and I am glad Mrs Irwin does her job right as a mother. Otherwise, the late Steve Irwin would be turning in his grave.

Bindi’s mum does a great job. I am so glad that she is dressed age appropriately.

      • whatsaysyou says:

I agree with what you say about Steve’s widow ensuring their daughter is dressed sensibly. After all, Bindi is the daughter of a man who taught us a great deal about animals. Allow me to put in a bit of my input again in regards to your blog article about the issue of the 14-year-old Kardashian girl being allowed to model in a string bikini. It does make me wonder why didn’t her mum stop this? I hate to say this but I think (just my thought okay?) her mum is the one that allows this to happen and what she is doing it is considered as irresponsible parenting.
