Singapore Daily Photos: Deepavali Lights

Deepavali, the Hindu Festival of Lights (it’s not the Hindu New Year, but a religious day celebrating the triumph of good over evil), falls on the 5th of November this year. You must walk or drive through Serangoon Road to catch the lights. It’s an enlivening scene that will leave you with a buzz. My amateur photos don’t quite capture it, but I am proud of them as I had to kinda stick my head and arms out the window to get these shots.

This year the decorations feature Lakshmi the goddess of wealth sprayed by elephants.

In Hindi Deepavali is known as Diwali which is what it’s called in India.
