Raffles City Underground Mall: Paper Market

The little suitcases in this stationary store that sells paper products were beyond adorable.  They were the first thing that caught my eye at Paper Market.  They came in all sizes and you could place them on the side of your bed as a little dresser. It’s a great space-saver as you could fill it up with your favourite keepsakes or even books. I love discovering brand new stores that are not already part of a chain.  Chain stores like Popular Store bore me.  Singapore seems to be filled with chain stores making all the malls in Singapore seem no different from another apart for a few variations.  I wish there were more boutique stores and they would add a lot more character to our malls.

Oops I just checked and there’s a store at Plaza Singapura too. So another chain in the making? Hope it stays interesting.  They do have a dizzying array for paper products for scrap-booking.

What a great name too. Paper Market. This would be a store I would be proud to own and someplace I could browse for hours. I have a fetish for pretty stationary you see. It can be a big problem when everything is just so pretty. I find stationary even more tempting than food and that’s saying a lot coming from a glutton like me.

The little suitcases in blue and pink would be a great christmas gift for little girls and you could fill it with a floral tea set or small dolls.

I captured the store at different angles so that you could get a look at all the pretty cardboard suitcases which were surprisingly sturdy even though they were very light.

It’s not surprising that most of the browsers in the store were women.

Look at all the pretty wrapping paper. Eye candy to me, and just in time for the gift giving season. I can already think of a couple of people who will adore all the things here. Only thing is, I didn’t scrutinize the prices. They must be quite expensive.

You could do so much with this paper. Drawer liner, book cover, scrap book material. I am not that creative, but I think artistic people can find several more uses.

I even saw an arts and crafts class being held in one of the rooms at the back.

I love this store too! The things are indeed beyond pretty. So colourful and cute. I just want to buy buy buy. But I can’t for the life of me think what I could do with all those products. I would love to know, then perhaps there would be reason to buy. My heart says buy but luckily my brain always steps in at the last minute.

The single sheet of papers are going at $1+ upwards depending on design. Did you buy anything in the end?

I didn’t because I’m broke so I only buy if I really need something. I realise that i have bought pretty things in the past by they just end up collecting space in my drawers. yeah but I know what you mean about the signals going ‘buy buy buy’
