Walking to Marina Bay Sands Through The Helix Bridge

Because the parking is an exhorbitant S$26 a day, many people chose to walk here instead.  The nearest MRT is Promenade which is at Millenia Walk or if you’re at The Esplanade you could just walk here from Glutton’s Bay, passing the Marina Mandarin Hotel and Ritz Carlton then the Youth Olympic Park to reach the Helix Bridge which links up to The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.  It’s better to come at night as there is no shelter and you can feel the direct heat of the sun.  It’s a great way to get your exercise for the day because you have a destination to reach.  The view along the way is quite spectacular and I saw several tourists getting a picture taken with the backdrop of the cityscape that includes the Merlion and the Fullerton Hotel.

This is my version of a self walking guide.

The Esplanade where I would love to catch a performance. There are some free concerts.

Glutton’s Bay from afar. This open air hawker centre open for dinner and I think they have the best satay.

Right now, the hand thingy isn’t looking so impressive. I find it quite an eyesore, but I may change my mind.

There will be a new year countdown here. I hardly go for these events, because there is hardly any room to breathe and not my idea of fun.

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

The Ritz Carlton is another landmark you will pass.

We’re at the Youth Olympic Park now.

And we’ve finally made it to the Helix Bridge.

From this point on, you can’t possibly get lost.

Through the bridge you can catch a sight of the Singapore Flyer on your left.  The latest news is that this place is going to undergo a S$10 million dollar revamp especially in terms of F&B offerings.

There are open areas along the bridge which are photo taking spots.

I wonder what the purpose of the open palm is?

Love how the clouds have formed.

The hand or the open palm up close. I heard some tourists from India comment that they wanted to take a picture with the lotus. Perhaps to some it looks like a lotus.

The place on the waterfront where big events and parades are held now.

And we’ve reached our destination. Just looking back on the Helix Bridge.
