Changi Airport Terminal 3: Shanghai Style Souffle Balls

These egg white souffle balls stuffed with red bean and banana at Crystal Jade Shanghai are so divine. With the the dusting of icing sugar it’s just perfection. It’s a bit oily though being deep fried and all. I wish I could come here just to have dessert. This was at the branch at Changi Airport Terminal 3. The dessert cost S$5.80 before taxes.

B decided to be adventurous and try a crispy rice in soup dish (S$12 before taxes) which to me tasted very bland and resembled rice krispies in warm milk. I asked if he would have this again and he immediately said no. It wasn’t bad or anything. It’s just that, the handmade noodles dishes here are a much tastier option.

I had the steamed pork bun (S$3.60 for a set of two). The char siew (BBQ pork) filling inside is the same as what you find at the regular Crystal Jade that serves Cantonese dim sum. It’s just that the skin is different. I prefer the Cantonese style steamed pau for sure. The bun is so much softer and tastier. To me, at least.

It’s a nice casual place and free iced water is served. They do charge you 30 cents each for the moist towelettes.
