Since I couldn’t resist taking so many photos are usual, I need to split this post into 3 parts. Part 1 will be about the ambience at Rise, Part 2 about the savoury food and Part 3 about the desserts.
As we sat down we were intrigued by the attractive and unique bright red berries placed in a vase on our table. I thought how refreshing, rather than the usual flower in a vase. Would love to try this at home if only I knew where i could find this plant. We had requested for a sofa seat which looks a whole lot more comfortable than the chairs.

At the end of the meal, make sure you request for a listing of the types of coffees and teas included with the buffet. We were not told about this and the waitress just poured cups of ordinary weak coffee and tea for us. When we inquired further we realized that we could get cappuccino and earl grey tea instead. I wonder why they didn’t tell us this in the first place? The cappuccino didn’t look that strong, but the earl grey tea was lovely and TWG tea leaves were used. Not just earl grey but French earl grey! I just loved the blanket stitch on the TWG teabags. It just goes to show their attention to detail, which is something I appreciate tremendously.
I recall you could also opt for Peppermint, Chamomile, English Breakfast tea or a Latte if you’re here for the buffet. Other than this hiccup, service was great. Plates were cleared promptly and unobtrusively and your iced water refilled. This is important to mention, as I have been to awful hotel buffets where the plates were not cleared and soon became unsightly as they stacked up.

As you sat you could people watch. Tons of tourists and mainly locals on staycation with their kids. We were attracted by colourful luggages being rolled across the lobby by the bellboys.

There is so much natural light flooding into the restaurant from the super high ceiling and glass facade. The architectural design of the hotel lobby is just breathtaking and I will need to do a separate post on that to do it full justice.

Looks like you had a wild and wonderful time at MBS! Was it for a special occasion? The buffet looks really good, wish I had time to go try it out.
It was so great. Not really, just that my companion had to clear ‘leave’ before the year end or it gets forfeited 🙂
