Official Opening: The Party at My Village in Serangoon Gardens

We drove by the cosiest mall ever, My Village at Maju Avenue, but almost didn’t go in because there was no place to park. Lucky thing there was free valet parking. We were there for the Carnival and party. It was the official opening of the mall, although it’s been open for quite some time already.

Checked out the website earlier, and the whole thing sounded so cool we couldn’t resist – The My Village Affair. According to the website it was a whole day thing from Noon to 8pm, including pillowfights in your jammies which I am sure teens would have loved.  I am too old for this and went much later.  Free kachang putih (nuts in paper to form a cone) for some nostalgia sounds nice, but I didn’t really go get any of the freebies as the place was thronging with people and kids with helium balloons.

I thought the welcome back signs were a nice touch and we caught glimpses of Daniel Ong from afar.  He’s quite a lively DJ. There was a singer there too. Not sure who she was though, probably a Singapore idol contest winner.

Here are the photos I snapped at the loud and lively night in the residential estate of Serangoon Gardens which is somewhere in the North East of Singapore.

I wonder what kind of games they played with the bed in the middle of the road. I missed that.

Sorry Daniel Ong, it was just too much of a squish to take photos and so the beam thingy blocks your face.

Loved the welcome back signs all over. Nice touch! I really think the mall owners have great taste. I wanted to spot them but didn’t. Was looking out for twin guys in their 40’s. Just saw the mascots.

The singer in gold.

The mascots Marley and Jules representing the twin owners. And families wanting to post with the Minister Lim Hwee Hwa.

Blogger 365days2play has a much nicer photo of this. The My Village signboard with loads of signatures by the residents done using the latest technology. What a cool project! You can also check out the photos by Calvin at Foodielicious.

If I have a party I would love to create an arch of balloons. They would be all purple and black. Or pink and silver. I wonder how it’s done though. I suck at craft.

Check out awesome photos of the event and some from the rooftop as well by blogger 365.

  4. That looks like a fun party. I can’t get over what weather you are having there. Here it is still cold and raining although yesterday was a BEAUTIFUL sunshine spring day.

What a let down to have a not so good hot chocolate. I can’t believe that. Sometimes the place looks so amazing but the quality isn’t so great. That’s why I think it’s so cool when you come across a place that is authentic and serves delicious surprises. Keep the investigative research coming. I love it!

Now I better appreciate the weather here although I would welcome freezing temperature….honestly 🙂
