For computer stuff, like printer ink, I really don’t like Sim Lim as some of the sales people there can be a bit thuggish. I don’t find the place very female friendly either and it all looks very drab. Instead I prefer Funan although B feels that Sim Lim has better prices.
Funan is so much brighter and it offers more than just computer stuff. There are places to sit and have a drink or meal as well like the Ya Kun Kaya Toast place which my sister is a big fan of.
I saw this lighting equipment for home use and I decided to take a shot to see how the photo would turn out.
I think you could save 200 bucks and take photos in the natural light, during the day time. I find that photos taken with natural light always turn out the best. You could also create your own device with some translucent white cardboard paper and shine the light from a table lamp through it. It diffuses the light for a similar effect. I am too lazy to do it.
I totally and completely agree with you. The sunlight has the special effect on photos. My camera does much better with the natural light. Although whoever invented the light that is close to the natural light is pretty darn smart!
I’ve also seen my friend mimic the effect with a lamp and a white card translucent cardboard when he used to take macro shots of mechanical watches.
I’m planning on getting a cube when it’s time to eBay Ellie’s old clothes (I want to be done having kids; obviously if we were to have another girl, it would be stupid to buy them all new clothes when E’s are high quality and in good condition). For that sort of thing, you want the color and everything to be true. I’ve often chosen not to go forward with purchases because I couldn’t get a good idea of the quality of an item from the picture.
With a newborn, I may also want a cube set up to do my own “professional” newborn portraiture. I actually need to take some classes in studio lighting so I can rent a space and do my own pro shots at some point before I’m pregnant/have a baby. I like the outdoor candids, but there’s some things that are best done in-studio.
Yes it would be useful if you have stuff to sell on Ebay or Etsy. I think it would be great for macro shots too.
