So glad I got another chance to explore Haji Lane.
Strolling into the little lane as the rain stopped.
It was refreshing to see this hot pink graffiti wall.
It was cool how the pipes were painted over.
This is my second visit and again I am impressed.
This is the SaladShop at 25 Haji Lane. According to their Facebook page a fashion and home accessories shop.
Loving the architecture and the splashes of yellow. Love that Singapore is still filled with shophouses.
In this hip trendy place I see lots of creativity. Take the logo of this little shop for instance.
And here I try peeking into Pluck at 31 Haji Lane, described as a style emporium and ice cream palour on their Facebook page. In this hip area, all the shops are owned by the young and naturally they have Facebook pages.
Pretty pale yellow door.
Here’s the famous consignment wholesale store, theblogshop, at 35 Haji Lane. The last time I came all the stores were closed as it was a Sunday, so it was nice to see what it was like inside.
Sorry about all the reflection. The stuff inside does look nice.
The stairway of this little shop instantly attracted me.
Beautiful lampshade within.
Loved the squirrel logo at naturally, a shop known as Threadbare & Squirrel. They have an uber cool website as well with a virual tour of their boutique.
The old white window shutters framed in lilac, are so lovely.
Nice – red bike against this hot pink and black store. This is hip hop fashion store, Alley at 53A Haji Lane.
I liked looking out for features like old letterboxes.
So striking, I had to take another shot.
The fashionable people – next to them I am super unhip.
Loved the pink blue contrast in this shot.
Isn’t this the cutest waste paper basket ever? Just outside Wicked Laundry, another cool fashion store. This is at 76 Haji Lane.
Cute T shirt. I really have to drop by this lovely place again. I’ve heard the shops keep changing hands, but I do wish them success as it’s hard to own a business in ‘sky-high rental’ Singapore.
There’s a wonderful review of Haji Lane by blogger Serene at ‘Smell the Coffee’
I absolutely couldn’t get enough of Haji Lane and Kampung Glam area too….
Missing the ginger tea ice cream and the nice shopowner who took the time and effort to tell me about Haji Lane and how it transformed into the mecca of the chic. I also met a very inspiring lady with lesions all over her face and body, whom, in spite of her skin condition, looked so cheerful and positive. She was so pleasant that I made a mental note to remember her always.
Your posts are motivating me to save harder for my next long vacation to Singapore 🙂
Wow how could I have missed ginger tea ice cream…the best combination of 2 things I love. The woman you describe truly sounds inspiring, but from my end I hope I get a chance to visit the beautiful beaches of Malaysia soon and also feast away 🙂
Do come 🙂
Always welcomed 🙂
It’s still monsoon season, a lot of beach resorts (ie. Redang etc) on the east coast of Peninsula Malaysia are closed. And, it seems like west coasts (ie. Penang and Langkawi etc) are also not spared from torrential rains. Come in June or July, when the weather is better 🙂
I didn’t realize that these places were affected by the monsoon still. The great thing about Malaysia is that there is so much to explore. My best holidays from childhood were travelling in Malaysia by car with my dad. Then I would be mesmerized by rows and rows of rubber trees.
The rubber trees are gone now 🙁 Replaced by oil palms.
I used to be totally mesmerized by the rubber tapper and when I was 4 I tried waving at them through the window. I thought their job was the most awesome. Of course little did I know what hard work it was.
ah i do love haji lane! it’s very interesting to see the artistic spirit of singapore in one place, invading every corner. If you explore some shops you’d see that even their interiors have quirky murals too!
I can feel cool for a while…when I’m here. Well actually I feel so uncool next to all the fashionable teens and young people 😉
Just be comfortable in your own skin 🙂 Anyone who takes time to seek and understand his/her surroundings is cool 😀
It’s been a while since I checked out Haji Lane, the only time I’ve been there recently was to Bar Stories! After reading your post, I feel like making a trip down to suss out the lovely boutiques. Not enough time before I leave to do everything.. arh!!!
Will keep you posted about what’s happening here while you teach me everything about Switzerland 🙂
