Maybe I am reading too much into her facial expressions and I am biased with my thinking that the mainstream media is biased. But I can’t help it. The newscaster’s scrunched up face while reporting the news about the dolphins in captivity annoys me. It’s as if the outrage over the situation is not warranted. Am I overreacting?

The poor dolphins 🙁 I don’t think any animal should be taken out of their natural habitat like that! I see dolphins here all the time in summer and they are carefree animals that love the open water, they definitely are not going to like being cramped in an enclosure and gawked at by people all day. 25 dolphins is a lot of dolphins too! Are they all going to be in the same enclosure?

Hopefully there is a huge boycott and they have no choice, but to free the dolphins.
Ask my mom about the dolphin that was stuck at the back of our house in Busselton. It was caught in the man made canel and everyone was trying to coax it back to the ocean.

I didn’t have an issue with RWS importing captive born dolphins…I genuinely think that they have no real chance of survival in the wild and are already used to humans/etc.
However, the capture of wild dolphins is certainly troubling to me. I’ve liked the page, and will have to reconsider whether or not we will take Elanor when the new aquarium opens. It also makes me wonder how the dolphins from dolphin lagoon were caught/purchased at the regular aquarium…those pens seem quite small too.
