My Village: Relish

Been hearing so much about this restaurant but I’ve never been. Well finally we explored it. It has a kind of fusion menu. I had the Japanese burger which is like a mix of curry rice and a burger. A pork cutlet with curry gravy within a burger. It was so different from the norm and different was good today. I am usually not at all adventurous when it comes to food. We also had the seafood linguini, but I found that too ‘fishy’. Don’t know how else to describe it, but I must just declare there that I am not really into seafood. The texture of the linguni was nice though.

The onion rings were good but for this price, I still think the ones at Carl’s Junior can’t be beat.

What I love about this little outlet is the ambience. It was dimly lit and cosy, with the blackboards and vintage sofas set. The person who designed and decorated this place has great taste.

Didn’t really care for the cafe latte I had – was too bitter. My measure for good coffee is that I don’t need to add any sugar to it.

I must add that the wait staff were nice and welcoming. I look forward to another visit someday to try the soup, a different burger, pasta and the desserts. They even offer an all day breakfast. A meal for two came up to about S$40 and thank goodness the iced water was free. There are places charging for ice water these days, to ‘encourage’ you to purchase a more expensive beverage.

The little details were nice – tin buckets for the utensils.

Small restaurant that was just pretty all over.

I liked the coleslaw that they used for the burger.

Again – I really liked the design of the glass even though the latte fell short.

Am definitely giving this place another go after reading this review by Miss Ene which has a close-up of that cool blackboard and gorgeous green sofa. Here’s another great one by Jamie Teo where she raves about the curry mayo that you probably only get with a full order of onion rings.
