My Favourite TV Shows and those I Stopped Watching

My Current Top 10 Must See Shows

1. Mad Men
2. Little Britain
3. The Ricky Gervais Show
4. An Idiot Abroad
5. Louie
6. The Office
7. Southpark
8. Nurse Jackie (the pharmacist is my favourite character)
9. Men of a Certain Age (would love a show with women dealing with mid-life)
10. House (I love Wilson)

Other Shows I Watch

1. Californication
2. Glee (a bit young for me but I love the music and progressive themes)
3. SNL (episodes with really funny hosts like Jon Hamm, Michael Buble, Zach Galifanakis and Justin Timberlake)
4. Parks and Recreation (especially with Rob Lowe in it, but not as good as The Office)
5. Weeds (loved the first 2 seasons so much, but the interest is waning)
6. The Big C (interesting premise but the main character is a tad too mean sometimes)

Recent shows I absolutely loved and I wish never ended

1. The Flight of the Conchords
2. The British Office
3. Tudors (pity the series has ended – also sad that the brilliant Jonathan Rhys Meyers attempted suicide recently. He has been having problems coping since the loss of his mum)
4. Curb Your Enthusiasm
5. Gilmore Girls

Shows I stopped Watching (because I feel they are not as good as they used to be and were becoming caricaturish and repetitive)

1. Grey’s Anatomy (loved the first season and the music)
2. Desperate Housewives
3. 30 Rock (started off being refreshing)
4. CSI (too gruesome)
5. 6 Feet Under (too bleak)
6. Heros (not into it)
7. Hell’s Kitchen (couldn’t take the bullying anymore)
8. Survivor (didn’t like mean behavior being rewarded)
9. The Amazing Race (tiresome to see people argue and fight)
10. American Idol

Thanks for sharing your list.. I’ll check out some of the shows on your Top 10 list.. haven’t seen some of the titles around. I love Glee..the songs always get me grooving! And it’s interesting that you like Flight of the Conchords.. I love it too… kinda an underground TV series.

  2. BJ, this list could be mine exactly. I don’t watch too much TV, but the shows you listed (with the exception of Little Britain and Lois CK…not familiar with them) are spot on.

Luckily I can watch the Seinfeld shows on DVD. (He went to my high school BTW…)
I never pegged you for a Southpark fan! So funny!

I really wish 6 Feet Under got better, but at the end there, it was too bizarre for me.. Great talent though.

Little Britain is a british comedy where they spoof the British…..a bit like the American Mad TV. It’s just there 2 guys Matt Lucas and David Walliams, but they are so darn versatile.

I could watch Seinfeld all over again and would still chuckle my head off. Wow Jerry Seinfeld went to your high school!!! Did you know him??? That’s so exciting.

      Do you like Southpark too?

Six Feet Under was brilliant but I just could not take it…..all that death…..it was not good for my mind.

I like some of your top tens. Mad Men is really high quality tv show and I can’t wait for the 5th season.
Haha you had an interesting comment on The Big C: why do you say the main character is a tad mean sometimes?

I love the fashion and I think the writers are brilliant. And I could go on about Jon Hamm. I love the little actress who plays the daughter too. She is so talented.

Well I guess I was referring to the first season where she cheated on her husband and didn’t explain things to her kid. But it was really touching, that scene where she bought a present for each birthday she was going to miss. That broke me.

  4. Great list. I see there is someone out there that is as big a fan of TV as I am!
I believe a new season of Curb your Enthusiasm is coming out this year. Greatest show ever made.

I love’d The Gilmore Girls! They should continue the series and show us Rory as an adult.
