We finally tried the Japanese pasta at Kabe no Ane, which means hole in the wall. The restaurant dates back to 1953 when it first opened in Japan. I must say I really fancied the texture of the noodles.
Here’s an alternative take on the pasta by Travelling Hungry Boy. I think you’d better trust his more discerning judgement than mine. Even B wasn’t too impressed as he prefers his pasta handmade. Guess I am easy to please in this instance or just haven’t refined my taste buds yet.
The interior was very pleasant as well. I am guessing the restaurant was empty because of the price of the pasta. I guess for S$15 most people expect hand made pasta? I don’t normally take to fusion food, but somehow I love the Japanese take on Western food. Maybe it’s the sweet element that’s introduced and I am a sucker for sweet savoury.
This restaurant is in Basement 1 located within the Japanese food court called Shokutsu 10.
