Kabe no Ana (Japanese Pasta at Nex)

We finally tried the Japanese pasta at Kabe no Ane, which means hole in the wall. The restaurant dates back to 1953 when it first opened in Japan. I must say I really fancied the texture of the noodles.

Here’s an alternative take on the pasta by Travelling Hungry Boy. I think you’d better trust his more discerning judgement than mine. Even B wasn’t too impressed as he prefers his pasta handmade. Guess I am easy to please in this instance or just haven’t refined my taste buds yet.

The interior was very pleasant as well. I am guessing the restaurant was empty because of the price of the pasta. I guess for S$15 most people expect hand made pasta? I don’t normally take to fusion food, but somehow I love the Japanese take on Western food. Maybe it’s the sweet element that’s introduced and I am a sucker for sweet savoury.
