Here’s another restaurant we visited some time ago that I totally forgot to blog. Or I thought I did. I don’t know what’s happening to my memory. I just hope I don’t ever double post.
So this was back when I was going nuts for Nasi Padang and was trying it out in all forms. Rendezvous is an old time Nasi Padang place from way back in the 70’s and they have now opened at the Central.
The ambience here is real nice, especially with the pretty ambience and the view, but I must admit that I much prefer the Nasi Padang I’ve had at Kampong Glam. The Nasi Padang at the Malay quarter has the authentic, wow factor.
Pretty view huh?
Here’s another blog review for an alternative perspective.
I used to eat here regularly as a kid. Then I noticed their decline. We secretly laugh at this as the ‘bluff Chinese nasi padang shop”. Over the years, they stopped using certain spices and chillies in their dishes. It now leans towards “bluff tourist nasi padang stall'”.
yeah the curries now taste about the same and I noticed the lack of spiciness. Being a chili queen…that definitely made me deduct points.
My parents used to bring me to Rendevous for Nasi Padang when we were young. I loved it then and still love it now but the prices are a tad bit expensive for Nasi Padang… I guess rising costs…
Seemed more spacious when it was located at the hotel.
I seriously LOVE reading about your food adventures. Especially drooling over the pictures!
Everything looks amaaaazing.
