Lavender Street Shophouses

The Shophouses along Lavendar Street look a little more run-down and grungy compared to the more touristy areas like Ann Siang Hill or Haji Lane.

The Balestier area has loads of lighting stores. Usually people who do home renovations come to this area to chose their lighting or bathroom fixtures, if they want a more reasonable rate.  It seems like this particular store has the best of both worlds and it was one of the nicer looking shophouses along this road.

Yeah this place can’t be compared to Ann Siang and Haji Lane, but then again, Lavender street serves different purposes. I would be the type to go to that cool looking lighting store rather than the old ones even though the old ones probably give a better deal???

I stay nearby this area. One of my favourite things to do is to take Bus 145 from around Lavendar (near where you took this photo) and enjoy the bus ride all the way to Vivocity. What I love about it is that the entire journey allows you to see the progression of architecture in Singapore. It’s really beautiful!
