As Borders Singapore’s Wheelock outlet closes, I wonder what will replace it

Although I prefer to shop for books at Kinokuniya, the store has been so iconic that it’s quite sad to see it go. I hope a bookstore or cafe takes the spot and it’s not another clothing or Tech store.

Here are the photos I took of Borders emptied of it’s books and the area within looking desolate. I hope the remaining Parkway Parade outlet thrives and I intend to go there soon.

These are distressing photos! I know of friends in Singapore who hang out at Borders more than they do in their own homes.

For now, Borders in Malaysia will not suffer a similar fate but with Popular, MPH and BookExcess in KL offering books at cheaper prices, I’m not sure how long Berjaya can keep them afloat.

Btw, great blog 🙂 I love the movie till today and now, it’s great to find a blog showing the latest developments in Singapore.

So sad to see, although like you, I prefer Kino.

I actually shopped at a Borders here in Seattle yesterday that’s going out of business. Got some dvds and books for 40% off.
