It’s laid back and relaxed, but there’s every type of cuisine imaginable at Tanjong Katong. Local, American, Indian, Indonesian, British, Japanese – no excuse for not finding anything you like. We tend to be like that. We never know what to eat, ironically because there is just so much to choose from. Wish I had 4 stomaches like a cow. Well I do have two – the other one’s for dessert. No matter how stuffed I am I always have room for something sweet.
I love ordering Dominoes Pizza when I’m lazy and my absolute fave is the thin crust classified chicken – cheesy and creamy. I didn’t like the thicker crusts at all, but that may be just my personal taste. It’s cool that there’s a Dominoes restaurant right smack in Tanjong Katong – who knew. Or maybe I’ve just been living under a rock as usual. So many new cafes here that I just noticed.
There were two ice cream joints and this joint called Ice Cream gallery will have a post of it’s own later.
There’s the famous Ponggol Nasi Lemak if you need local food, which I will also cover in another post. Look out for it.
I really like the vibe of Katong and so I keep coming back. I keep seeing cool street lamps.
There was this Tandoori place that seemed a bit empty.
Love the interesting store front of Java Kitchen.
Also eager to try this authentic looking Fish and Chips place called Smiths.
And I love cafes with cool logos. Big Bad Wolf – what a great name for a little pub.
Cool huh? I love clever puns – Best Food in the Hood.
We were at Poole Road. Cranes in the background.
As night fell, we crossed over to explore more. Here’ A Pinch of Salt.
Japanese food.
This brick apartment complex reminded us of Australia. I also noticed that our sky at dusk turns a stunning shade of blue.
Another ice cream joint we spied from across the road.
It’s a good thing some of the old remains – like this very Singaporean provisional store.
This is my neighbourhood we live literally just down the road from all these places and often dine out here. We’ve tried the Tadka Indian Kitchen and Big Bad Wolf which we like and of course being Brits have dined at Smiths a fair few times. I look forward to reading your post on the Ponggol Nasi Lemak Centre, this place always has a queue outside and several taxi drivers have told us it’s good.
will do an honest post of it soon 🙂
It’s a wonderful neighbourhood that you live in…..how did you find the fish and chips compared to the authentic stuff from your homeland?
Pretty spot on actually, although the sausages they use for the battered sausage are not quite there but certainly not bad either. The curry sauce is particularly good exactly as it should be for dipping chips in! 😉
Wow that’s good to know….hope to try it soon 🙂
I like the night shot photo that you took. Really nice! This is part of my ‘hood! We often go to Java Kitchen for the indonesian food. 😉
Since you recommend Java Kitchen…I’m now dying to try it 🙂
Another thing that keeps me returning to Singapore again and again is the selection of food! I’m beginning to grow a little tired of Cantonese food out here 😛
I didn’t think it was possible to get tired of food in Hong Kong 🙂 but I guess variety is good. I love the pasta in HK…forget the name of the chain.
Haha. I’m trying not to indulge in luxurious food and keeping things down to earth here. Maybe I havent been too adventurous with the low cost selection. I really should try out more things! 🙂
