Chinese New Year 2012: Just Outside People’s Park Complex

You have to try the snack stalls here. Really authentic stuff from China. Pancakes with spicy pork filling. So good. I always see long queues forming.

Another popular stall that we tried the last time.

The yummy pacake that reminds me of a fluffy naan.

This one sells thin pancakes with spicy filling. Very yummy too.

Across are all the vendors set up for Chinese New Year. When we were there an illegal stall holder was busted. It was kinda sad to see them booked and have their stall taken down. But I guess it’s unfair to those who have paid rental to take up the official stalls?

This is where the main Chinatown MRT stop opens up to. So crowded you can hardly walk without being bumped or nudged.

Very lively with all kinds of festive goods like ang pow packets, handphone covers and durians.

Crudely made Cath Kidston fake covers, but very pretty. Just S$5 or 3 for S$10 but I was afraid they might scratch the phone. Anyone purchase this and can tell me whether they do or not?

Groudnuts galore. A must for any CNY party, as you chat the night away.

The scent of the durian was heavenly to me and super enticing. I am so glad I have this acquired taste that is so rare on a worldwide scale. I think I am probably just among the 20% of the world’s population who can’t get enough of this fruit?

Cheeky inscription on a fake iPhone cover.

More authentic food outlets from China. This one selling spicy noodles. Looks handmade and yummy.

The famous Lim Chee Guan Ba Kwa, just a bit further down.

Just delish.

Dragons up on the overhead crossing.

It’s late so I’m probably just not reading your question well…what is your worry about the cell phone cover?

I use a screen protector on the front and a hard case on the back. In part, the case helps protect the phone in a fall, and in part also protects it from more general scratches and damage.

It was more about when I remove the cover. It seems to scratch the brushed metal surface when it’s not probably constructed like the copy ones in chinatown and toa payoh.
