I still like Liang Court best, but this little mall is beginning to become a close second. Especially when it comes to food other than Japanese food, where the best is still found at Liang Court in my opinion.
Had the yummiest spicy noodles at Szechuan restaurant Xiao La Jiao. I would totally recommend this place as the service was good too. But it was nice that it was not crowded.
I had the mapo tofu noodles and I loved every bit of it. The handmade noodles and the spiciness won me over.
But my mouth was on fire soon after. Well, not too bad – just a mini fire that was put out with the jasmine tea and iced water.
My partner had the beef noodles but he felt the beef was not tender enough.
I absolutely loved the pumpkin dessert with the sweet yellow bean filling within. I can’t wait to come here with my family members who love spicy chinese noodles. I am sure they will love this place.
I found the cutlery pretty.
Snapped shots of the menu so you can have a look at the prices.
There are so many other options as well. This mall is really a food and groceries haven. For Chinese New Year Market Place was selling Glory Pineapple Tarts. These are really good, but nothing beats home-made ones with real pineapple.
I love the Mandarin Oranges from Taiwan. I like them sour sweet.
More Chinese New Year 2012 festiveness with an inflatable orange dragon at J-Mart, the Japanese Grocery Store.
The pastries and desserts at the Gastronomia Da Paolo Cafe look so tempting.
Thought this orange plant at the store window looked quite elegant.
There were decorations up and a little dance for Chinese New Year.
at $9, your mapo dofu noodles had better be good.
the CNY decorations were pathetic. the mall itself
was a huge yawn. too many restaurants. dint seem
to have anything particularly standout among them.
far too many sports shoe shops too. there were abt 3
clothing shops – with boring stuff on the racks. katong
shopping centre has Much funkier clothes outlets.
the rest of the place seemed filled with some toy shops,
tech shops, a place selling pain relief ornaments, a bra
shop, and an interesting danish furniture store.
joo chiat rd opp has more variety in food n lifestyle outlets.
yeah I heard that some people don’t like the place. I guess it’s all very subjective. Definitely better food in Joo Chiat, but I guess I was just talking about mall food.
Max Brenner’s is a fun place to eat. I’ve liked them since I tried them in NYC a few years ago 🙂
