Went to India, didn’t get Delhi Belly but returned with Bollywood Fever

I’ve never watched a Hindi movie before as I don’t understand the language, but during this trip to India, one thing changed – I got so hooked on Bollywood music videos. Finally got to see why so many people around the world are enamoured by the dancing. These were some of the music videos they kept playing on the India MTV channel. Now I want to watch the movies.

This is from a romantic comedy called ‘Ekk Main Aur Ekk Tu’ which means You and I. The video is set in Las Vegas.

Another music video from the same movie that I found so cute. The Aunty Ji song. I think both the stars, Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor are great dancers. They are obviously not singing though as most Bollywood movies are dubbed. Although I must say a great job lip synching.

And this was the biggest blockbuster release when I was there. A movie about revenge called Agneepath (Path of Fire) starring Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra whom I thought was absolutely gorgeous. Found out she won the Miss World pageant in 2000. Seems like beauty queens in India end up with big careers in Bollywood.

Another music video from the same movie with Katrina Kaif, another leading actress, in it. Everytime I watch these I think these women must be burning thousands of calories with those vigorous moves. They could probably stuff their faces and not put on any weight.

It’s just a pity I don’t know Hindi and need to read subtitles if I want to watch the movies.

yeah they can be so addictive. I watched one on the plane but pressed fast forward as they can get a bit long. I am always entranced by the gorgeous actresses and how they move so fluidly.

    Hii ,
I too lovee watching indian movies . They are so addictive and some of the songs are full of life . I tried lots of ways of learning hindi (i’m really bad at it ) . However i finally came across this application called PicSpeak http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/picspeak-english-hindi-talking/id493554034?mt=8 . It reallly helped me a lot . And has made watching these movies a lot more fun . And now i sometimes even manage to recite few lines from the movies and shock my husband hehe (he is indian )!

That sounds so cool. Glad I am not the only one addicted. I love how chirpy Priyanka Chopra is in the music video 🙂 So full of energy.

I watch them with the English subtitles on. My absolute favorite Bollywood Movie is called Salaam E Ishq, which is similar to Love Actually (with multiple couples and storylines that cross at times) and has really great music. LOVE it.
