Clipper Race at Keppel Bay (Round the World Boat Race makes a stop in Singapore)

Keppel Bay is a real tiny artificial island with a bunch of eateries and boats. When we were there it was buzzing with activity.

I had no idea what a clipper race was till I read the details. It’s a world wide race for yachts that can go fast and there’s a stop in Singapore now. Anyone can take part and the boats are identical. It’s the world’s longest yacht race from New York to the Gold Coast in Australia with many stops along the way including Singapore and Finland. Basically it’s for those who love adventure (not me because I am not athletic and don’t think I could live on a boat for that long) and want to take the journey of a life time around the world.

Singapore is in second position right now behind the Gold Coast team.

Every time I see Qingdao on a map now I recall that we were supposed to go there including Yokohama (part of a business trip) but didn’t in the end as the trip was cancelled. But I did learn quite of bit about the two places as I do quite a bit of research before a trip. But nothing beats what I learn during the trip itself. I guess nothing can replace actually going to the place and seeing it for yourself.
