Exploring the Central Business District near Raffles Place MRT

I love the downtown area near Raffles Place MRT. It’s nice to walk around the area as I hardly get a chance to go there. I think it’s one of the best work locations although I don’t think many would agree as they probably face major traffic jams and congestion on the MRT. I think the area is beautiful with the old bridges and colonial buildings like the Fullerton Hotel. Everywhere I looked I could see tourists with their cameras. It’s quite a scenic area.

Very scenic indeed.

I was very impressed looking up and seeing the skycrapers. They were really so impressively tall.

The New York Financial District has it’s bull and we have our buffalo.

The Asian Civilization Museum is around the corner too. It would be most interesting for someone who has not been exposed to Asian culture. For me lots of it is too familiar to be captivating.

But I was attracted by these Tang dynasty horses.

There was a Tang shipwreck exhibit when we were there.

Of course, the majestic Fullerton Hotel.

The famous sculpture of kids jumping into the river to swim. A scene from yesteryear.

My first time noticing the view on one of the connecting mall bridges.

Coffee Club is located in the translucent glass structure near Raffles Place MRT. It’s a good meeting point.

So hard to capture the awesomeness of the tall structures. I would probably have to lie on the ground to get a good shot.

South Indian food in the CBD. A good place to have tea.

Singapore might be small, but there are so many buildings and landscapes of interest( although we lack mountains and lakes or rich rainforest).

Hey hello! Although I have been following your blog for so long, it’s my first time leaving a comment here!:) Just want to say I have always been interested to take photos and do some ‘sightseeing’ in the CBD area, now seeing your post just makes me want to go there the very next day! You always do very good introductions of places of interests in Singapore. Thank you very much!

Thanks for sharing, especially the piece about Joseph Conrad. I’ve never noticed that plaque and never realised he died fairly close to where I grew up!

I had no idea he was in Singapore for a while either. My first time seeing the plaque too. It’s nice to discover new things – one of the best things about blogging.
