It’s my third post at White as Milk. Would love to hear what you think.
I talk a bit about my own childhood too. And even though I am not a parent (so not qualified as such), I express some of my views on parenting based on my observations about own parents and relatives.
Just some videos of poor kiddos addicted to the device. If I was a kid in this era I would probably want one too.

That s always good to have opinion of non parents. Before I became one, I always thought that I would do better or differently… Once it came into practice it is not always that easy and you really succeed in pointing this out!
Yeah when I was babysitting I also find it really hard to say no. When they look upset or cry I just want to comfort them with whatever they want…even though it’s not allowed. Also they kinda wear you down after a while. Kids have so much more energy 😉 My friends also kinda give up and relent to using the TV as a babysitter even though they had all these rules before. Yeah it’s super hard to be too perfect. I guess it’s ok to just go with the flow like our parents did and don’t beat ourselves up too much about it. I guess we all just try to do our best.
I think the most important thing I would teach them is just to be kind. I used to get bullied in school so I find this aspect quite important.
Well, I have talked about this quite a lot. I still get the stares when my son screams non stop in a quiet restaurant and the only next best thing to do after trying all things to pacify him is the iPhone with the downloaded videos to keep him happy.
Trust me.. If I have no choice, I would not have to use this method. I too, wish that my son was so nice and sitting quietly enjoying his meal.
To him, NO WAY!!!
Yeah I would probably give in too. All children seem to love this device. I guess the iPad to them is like what the TV was to the previous generation. Thanks so much for sharing Kelvin.
With no domestic helper in tow, we are usually guilty of using the TV as the babysitter at times.
Hehe our parents did that too but we didn’t turn out so bad. I think it was much easier to be a parent back in the day without the tons of advice from professionals, super nanny etc.
