I was surprised to find Harris Bookstore full of people eagerly lugging as much as their arms could carry. Is the sale that great, I asked myself? Oh no, my next thought was, please not another closing down sale. Not another bookstore down? But when I googled I found that it was a genuine first birthday sale that will last till 20th May (so you still have time). I have to confess I didn’t buy anything. Well this time. You need to buy 6 items to get a 60% discount. It starts from 20% for 2 items, 30% for 3 items etc. I think you get what I mean. I was tempted, especially as I gazed at the Moleskins. You know my weakness for those exquisite things. The Tim Burton Oyster Boy collectibles was something I was drawn to as well. Just resisted them all.
The other branch at Great World City closed down, but this branch calls itself planerds and seems to specialize in comics. There was a free comic book giveaway too which I found very cool.
Does that mean if you buy 10 books, you get 100% discount? Haha!
Sadly it stops at 6 for 60% 😉 My partner asked me the same question by the way 😉
specialised in comics? I think I need to go and have a look 😉
I think you’ll like it Guillaume. They have all sorts of comics, even some local ones. I’ve seen the Marvel series, Tin Tin etc. I also saw comic T Shirts and collectibles like what you see at the Flea market and I wondered if the traders at the flea market buy them up at sales like this and then sell them for a higher price.
Wow, i need to get to Harris soon. Peter Carey taught at the same university as me. I love David Mitchell. Such a brilliant novelist.
I love Peter Carey’s Wrong About Japan….need to pick up the other titles too. Must check out David Mitchell as well.
Wow when does the sale end??? I shouldn’t go though, I’d only get more cookbooks which I never use.
oh yes, you reminded me about the whole cookbook section there.
60% off the entire sale?
Oh god, I didn’t need to know that.
yeah if you buy 6 items. Immediately my mind went into a Moleskin fog 😉 There’s a kids and cookery section here too. Fiction as well but not as much as comics.
