I was excited to see rambutans at Tekka Market as they hardly seem to be in season these days. Rambutans and Durian are my favourite fruits. I guess I have to include really good Philippine Mangoes as well, but we hardly see those in Singapore anymore.
For rambutan, I want them to be really juicy and not dried out. You know, where juice squirts into your eyes as you’re prying it open? Dried out ones can be quite disappointing.
And I’ve never seen bananas this huge. I wonder where they are imported from.
I really do like the fruit stall area at Tekka Market. Loads of mangoes too.
Rambutans are my favourite!!! Do you know how long these are in season for?
I’m not so sure about the length of the season but I usually see them around only for a few weeks. I didn’t get them this time as we were on our way to some place else so it means I need to get them soon too.
I love mango!!! it’s my favorite. Rambutan is fine but Durian..hehe..i couldn’t dare to eat it…
We used to get such wonderful mangoes from the Philippines when I was a kid, but I can’t seem to find them anymore.
Yeah..we have lots of mangoes here in Philippines…it’s our national fruit actually..i even experienced climbing up a mango tree just to get some fruits, even if they were still green..it was one of my childhood’s great memories…
That sounds so lovely. I wish I knew how to climb a tree. Mangoes from the Philippines are totally the best ever. I still recall the taste from childhood.
