It’s like a tradition of ours to check out the Chinese New Year display at the Marina Bay Floating Platform near the Esplanade. Last year it was scorching hot and even though it’s been raining it was still super hot with no shelter and the reflection of the heat off the ground. We felt so sticky and uncomfortable and after I snapped away, I just had to get outta there. Saw many children melting in the heat with pink cheeks and having meltdowns as well. I don’t blame them. But it was worth it going down. I especially liked the weird pink pig zodiac lantern as well as the giant golden pineapples that were sparkling in the sun. I would suggest perhaps going down at night when the lanterns are all lit. I’m sure it must be quite pretty and definitely much cooler then.
Talking about the year of the snake, a taxi driver told me that it’s been raining because it’s the year of the water snake. That was what I’ve been saying as well, not because I’m superstitious but because it’s just such a cool and perfect fit.
River Hongbao is on for another 2 days. Till this Saturday 16 Feb 2013. And it opens from Noon to 11.30 pm at night if you wanna catch it. I saw the details here.
Lovely photos as always. The pineapple is the standout for me. I want that little red dot t-shirt.
Thank you so much Christo 🙂 Yeah I thought the T shirts were cool too. And that pineapple – so lovely & golden.
