My First Time at the SEA Aquarium (Sentosa)

There are some unusual sea creatures I saw here that I’ve never seen before and for that I guess it was worth the huge ticket price of S$29. The tanks here are pretty massive and more impressive than the previous Underwater World at Sentosa. My favourites were the cow fish which was both cow and alien like, and the black spiked sea urchin which reminded me of a character from Tontoro (Miyazaki’s animations).

The biggest downer? The crowds and humoungous DSLRs with flash. It was hard to see much till the crowd at each station cleared. But this was a weekday and non-peak so I figure the weekend must be pretty nightmarish. I can also imagine how serene an emptier aquarium would be. Wish they would restrict the number of visitors for a more pleasant experience. This is what they did at the Harry Potter Exhibition at the Arts Science Museum.

thank you so much for the lovely photos and directions in your previous posts. The photos are amazing and the details are very useful. On my to do list when i am down there for my next vacation.

  2. Very beautiful – I especially love the little pink fish! Glad you persevered even though it was crowded, it looks like it was worth it.

the colours were all amazing. Since I’m too afraid to try scuba diving I am glad I could get a taste of what they see underwater.

Hey bookjunkie, just read your post and noticed a typo on the animation reference you mentioned. The animation by Miyao Miyazaki is “My Neighbour, Totoro” and the black creature you mentioned is “Makuro Kurosuke”. =)

“Tontoro” actually means “Pork Belly”, hee…
