Maison Kayser has the Best Freshly Baked Bread in Singapore

I can’t wait to make a return visit to Maison Kayser at Scotts Square even though the drinks were disappointing the both times I was here. The coffee I had previously was weak and this time the tea was weak … Continue reading

My Visit to Dean & Deluca at Orchard Central

Dean & Deluca is a culinary store that opened in 1977 in New York and is finally here in Singapore. It’s intention was to celebrate food. I always imagined it was older though, due to the frenzy surrounding it’s opening … Continue reading

I’m a Sucker for TWG at Marina Bay Sands

I still like the ambience and tea here even though the price cannot be justified especially for the tiny crepe and crappy cake. The best dessert item I’ve had here was the creme brulee tart and the best savoury item … Continue reading

Golden Mile Complex: Little Thailand in Singapore

The last time B brought me to Golden Mile Complex, it seemed very run down. Seems a lot better now and I really enjoyed the exploring. Maybe my perspective has changed since I started blogging. I tend to view anything … Continue reading

Greenwich V: Spiced Chocolate & Tea at Cedele

Nice view and the main reason why I like the restaurants at Greenwich V. The worst Cedele is the super cramped one at Raffles City Shopping Centre. I like plump chairs with generous cushioning. Well, sofas would be best and … Continue reading

Fish Mart Sakuraya: Another Japanese Supermarket (West Coast Plaza)

I am getting so predictable. I checked out yet another Japanese supermarket. But they are still fun for me with all the pretty packaging. I think this is Sakura tea – all pretty in pink. My first time seeing special … Continue reading

TWG Tea Salon at Takashimaya

TWG opened a new branch at Takashimaya. I think Royal Copenhagen used to be in this spot. The Indian owners of TWG must be doing really well and it’s no wonder as I’m sure their profit margins are very high. … Continue reading

Treats at Takashimaya’s Basement Food Hall

I saw many new Japanese eateries and beautifully packaged and tempting gourmet treats. Was most tempted by the TWG store where my favourite tea ‘Tea Party’ was being sold. So glad my cousin picked this tea when we had high … Continue reading

Fullerton Bay Hotel: Afternoon Tea

I think I’ve just been treated to the best high tea in Singapore.  I used to think it was Rose Veranda.  The company must have made for a good experience as well. The ambience at the Landing Point at Fullerton … Continue reading

ION Christmas 2011: Paul Frank, Jams & A Skinny Santa

Looks like a gold xmas tree this year. One thing lazy me loves about Singapore is not having to climb up stairs. Is this Paul Frank store new? Haven’t been to ION in quite a while. Love the abominable snowman. … Continue reading

Jams at ION

Another quiet place to escape for tea.  It’s the cafe within the bookstore called Prologue (the upscale version of Popular Store).  Not much in terms of service, but from the cafe, the view of Orchard Road is pretty awesome.

Afternoon Tea at Four Seasons

I could not find any reviews of the afternoon tea at the Four Seasons. Even more reason to blog about it and share what I thought of it. Perhaps the lack of reviews should have been a sign. The place … Continue reading

Relaxing High Tea at the Rose Veranda (Part 2 of 2)

So many types of tea and pretty tea cups. There was coffee as well. But i missed the Viennese coffee that they used to serve. This was just brewed coffee. I tend to have a preference for earl grey or … Continue reading

Relaxing High Tea at the Rose Veranda (Part 1 of 2)

Shangri-la Hotel’s Rose Veranda has become our default high tea place as the staff always make us feel at home. The food may not be the highest quality, but it has a down to earth cosy vibe which we really … Continue reading

Wimbly Lu: The Pretty Little Chocolate Cafe at Jalan Riang

The brownies at Wimbly Lu are moist and rich. Be sure to share them. The fresh cream that comes with this brownie instead of the usual ice cream is a nice change. Isn’t the polka dotted plate so whimsical too. … Continue reading

Shakuntala’s at Syed Alwi Road & Other Indian Restaurants near Mustafa

I’ve enjoyed the vegetarian rice set at Shakuntala’s and I recommend this branch rather than the fancier one called Shankutala’s Food Palace at Race Course Road which serves seafood as well. The standards are not very consistent and I find … Continue reading

Tea at Kampong Glam

Teh Tarik at the little shop opposite Kampong Glam cafe is so good. This little stall is at 21 Bussorah Street.  The tea is prepared by an elderly Indian Muslim gentleman using both condensed and evaporated milk. I wonder if … Continue reading

City Square Mall: Toast Box

The little stools are not the most comfortable, but it’ll do when you’re craving for kopi or tea and want to have it in air-conditioned comfort. B always orders teh si kosong, but with my sweet tooth I prefer the … Continue reading

Acquired Taste

When I was a little kid I hated to eat proper meals or at all. I was more interested in playing (if only I was that way now). I used to eat what seems positively gross to me now – … Continue reading

Thosai at Komala Vilas

I don’t know if Komala Vilas has the best thosai, but I always tend to come back to the original branch located on the main road. It was established in Singapore way back in 1947 and is still going strong. … Continue reading

Milky Ginger Tea at Kampong Glam

We walked a little way down past Kandahar street to a tiny coffee shop. Here hot tea is traditionally tossed high into the air by a sweet, elderly Indian Muslim man. The resulting teh tarik was perfection. I even felt … Continue reading
