Image of Orchard Road in 1900s

It blows my mind that this was Orchard Road. It used to have nutmeg orchards and pepper farms and I guess that’s how it got the name. Today it’s our shopping belt and filled with luxury shops flocked by both tourists and locals. My heart leaped when I saw this picture. It’s such a stark contrast from the densely populated modern facade of Orchard Road a century later. Please someone, build me a time machine…I wanna go back 🙂

Can that really be of Orchard road? I suspect someone tagged the photo wrongly. That looks like a snowy winter’s day in England or something.

Oops I think you’re right because there’s an Orchard Road in England too. I replaced the photo. This one looks more like it, with the rickshaws 🙂

Yup that looks like the Orchard Road of Singapore from years ago. I so wish I could have seen this personally myself. I hope someone will invent a time machine in our lifetime…
