The Noose: Let’s Have More Empathy for Lower Income Foreign Workers

Michelle Chong does a spot on Philippino accent.  Some Singaporeans really treat their maids terribly.  Aren’t they employees just like any of us working in an office, but somehow they get treated a whole lot worse – dehumanized.  Anyway I think the whole idea of live in maids is a bad concept as it is prone to abuse, unless the employer is naturally compassionate.  I see couples taking their maid out on a Sunday and the maid pushes their kid in a pram or has to wait around while they shop or  frolick about, completely ignoring their child – it’s really awful.  Anyway this is what it is like in our society.

Right on! I have seen far worse sights than maid taking care of the brat while parents busy themselves with anything-but-their-child. Totally disgusting! Pathetic middle class mentality. *sigh*
