Read my latest post written on 25 Jan 2011: QB Hair Salon, DBS Bank, Coffee Bean, Wang Cafe, Subway, Old Hong Kong Taste, Udders ice-cream and Da Paolo Gastranomia are now open.
I also took photos of the gorgeous Chinese New Year decorations on 18 Jan 2011. Check it out at this post.
What I wrote on 1 Jan 2011:
Well not quite fully open, just NTUC Finest which I will cover in my next post. Out of all the shops in this teeny-weeny mall, I think Subway is the best addition. It’ll be coming by in mid January. Coffee Bean used to be in the old place, and it’s returning. I love the design of this little shopping centre, although I wonder how the people living nearby feel. There was some cool features. An electronic ‘grass’ mat which magically produces daisies beneath your feet as you walk by. The electronic directory was neat. The rattan fans and tree decals, gives the place a kind of rustic, laid back feel.
Checked out the NTUC Finest (gourmet version of Singapore’s budget supermarket) and I liked it. Maybe it was because it’s new and empty. For once I felt like I had a supermarket all to myself! The worst Supermarket experience is the NTUC Xtra at Ang Mo Kio Hub where you constantly get bumped into. The carpark is a nightmare too.
At the roof garden, a real pretty view of red roofs. B commented that I am becoming some kind of mall reviewer with the number of new malls I’m heading to (and places I am making him drive to that are blog worthy). More like a new mall spy I think, the way I surreptitiously take photos before someone scolds and embarrasses me. That made me think – wouldn’t that be a cool job! Secret shopper sounds like a real sweet job too. How the heck do you even get those kinds of jobs?
This is slated to be a rooftop beer garden. Since I don’t drink beer, it doesn’t sound very exciting to me. The twin brother owners of this place must love beer or at least the profit margins that beer generates.
The location is right smack in the middle of this charming estate. Not very convenient as there is no MRT here, but there is a small bus interchange. Basically you need a car or taxi to get here.
