The one thing that made a huge impression on me was the very pretty architecture of the museum. Both the external facade and the building within that was once a Chinese school. The building was constructed way back in 1912 and is of the classical colonial tropical style. It would have been wonderful to live in a home like this with natural light flooding into the middle or central hall of the building, and the solid dark wood floors.
Airy spacious corridors. I can imagine the children marching through these corridors towards their classrooms as this was Tao Nan School after all. I wonder how much of the old structure was preserved.
Loved the gorgeous pink wall art.
I love the use of muted complementary pastel shades.
If you have difficulty climbing stairs there are lifts that have been constructed within the building.
Just so pretty. I can’t rave enough about how pretty the internal structure is and once again my photos don’t do the place justice. You just have to come explore for yourself.
That’s really pretty.
🙂
It’s one of the prettiest museums… I thought.
So many times when I look at your photos of wonderful places in Singapore, I kick myself for not getting around to seeing them when I lived there. Today, with all the gorgeous photos of the Peranakan museum, I’m kicking myself so much I’m black and blue all over. I really do have to get back to that tiny island some day soon!
I just realized that even though we’re so tiny there is still so much more for me to explore. And then after that there’s so much in South Eat Asia that I haven’t seen either.
