Exploring Holland Village (Part 1 of 2)

As we enter Holland Village on another super hot, blue sky day, you can see that construction of the MRT is still going on. I can’t wait for this stop on the yellow line to be ready.

There is the one windmill structure that makes this Holland Village or Holland V as me and my friends called it back in the 80’s.

Haven’t been here for quite a while. Wonder if the Kenny Rogers here is new. Yumm corn bread, idaho potatoes, mac n cheese.

Loved this new ad by Singtel. Wonder what my expat blogger friends think of this.

Thambi means younger brother in Tamil. This is the name of the Mama shop here that sells magazines. Mama means uncle in Tamil.

We have 3 Wendy’s outlets in Singapore now. Here, Nex mall, and Lau Pa Sat. Love it.

I wonder when this stop will be officially opened. It’s then going to be even more crowded in Holland Village.

The sun’s glare is terrible here as there’s not much shade.

Are they sharing a durian in that SingTel ad? Hilarious!

I have a soft spot for Holland V cuz the Partner stayed here for a bit. Used to tell everyone come the weekends that I’d be going off for my weekend holiday in holland. Quite a number of places have been touted as the next Holland V, like Sunset Way, Siglap, but somehow the vibe is just different.

Last I checked was about 2 years ago, just a whole row restaurants amidst neighbourhood shops (the type of shops that sell pipes, furniture etc). Problem is, it’s down a side road. There’s no anchor tenant like a supermarket or something to draw the crowds. Don’t know if the place is languishing now.

I never could bring myself to taste durian. I couldn’t get past the smell. I continue to peak at your blog. LOVE to see all the parts of Singapore that I never got to see myself.

I never realized that Wendy is Pipi Langstrumpfen…

Aren’t there 4 Wendy’s now? Holland V, Nex, Lau Pa Sat and somewhere in Orchard? I forget where exactly.
