Being Personal on a Blog
Often to write something personal feels like giving away a piece of yourself. But it is rewarding sometimes to be vulnerable and reveal your innermost thoughts. Lately I find myself so reluctant to do so, and feel like the blog … Continue reading

Eye-Candy: The Fruit & Products at Meidi-ya Supermarket
I find the supermarket produce at Meidi-ya at Liang Court just the best looking supermarket products you can find in Singapore. I have never bought any of the fruit as it’s way out of our budget. Nice to look at … Continue reading

The Goat Year & Hinamatsuri at Liang Court
I think my favourite place where I experience the Goat Year festivities is Liang Court. I just think they do things so well and I guess I am a Japanophile? Hinamatsuri is Doll’s Day or Girl’s Day and is celebrated each … Continue reading

CNY2015: Chinese New Year Atmosphere at Great World City
Again, lovely decorations. Saw people in a frenzy – a woman with her facial mask still on, rushing to get last minute new year stuff. Had a meal at Crystal Jade La Mian (not so fantastic – perhaps the better … Continue reading

Improvements at Toa Payoh Hub
Haven’t been to the Toa Payoh Hub area in a while and was pleasantly surprised that more casual eateries have been added and now there is a covered air-conditioned walkway for them. There’s a Starbucks at the very end too … Continue reading

CNY2015: River Hongbao at Night (17 – 28 February 2015)
About 27 degrees celcious at night and much better to see the decorations all lit up than in the sweltering heat of the day. River Hongbao 2015 is taking place on the floating platform at Marina Bay from 2pm to … Continue reading

CNY2015: 313 Somerset
Classy decorations at Somerset 313. Found the draping of the long red cloth rather elegant.

My Village: Little Wimbly Lu
Not much space to sit here and wish they took up 2 units instead (but yes it wouldn’t be called little then). The iced earl grey tea was refreshing but B found the green tea latte too sweet. Lovely decor … Continue reading
My Village: Duke Bakery
Duke Bakery has opened a branch at My Village. The breads here are tasty but expensive. Not as good as Maison Kayser in terms of moist chewiness but better than most other similar type bread shops.
Warung M Nasir: Nasi Padang at Killiney Road
Haven’t had Nasi Padang in a while, but I didn’t find the meal here as tasty as I recall from back in 2011. Perhaps I should have added an assam fish as well. Love mixing the different gravies – the more the … Continue reading

CNY2015: Parkway Parade
Interesting window displays and a creative take on the word for goat (which really looks like a goat as Chinese is a pictographic language). The promotional poster at Parkway Parade looked interesting too.
My Favourite Meal in Singapore Costs 7 Dollars
Haven’t had my favourite meal in such a long time because it’s always pretty impossible to get parking at Alexandra Village Hawker Centre. Nothing beats clay pot laksa (former Depot Road Laska) and Avacado Juice (more like milkshake). The laksa … Continue reading

The Austrian Guy Selling Sausages in Chinatown

CNY2015: Bak Kwa Queues in Singapore

CNY2015: Windy But Extremely Hot in Chinatown

CNY2015: VIvoCity Bazaar
If you want the festive feel, but want to avoid the heat and really crazy crowds at Chinatown, the VivoCity bazaar might be a good option. Some cute goat themed stuff to be found too.
Weekday Lunch Buffet at Edge (Pan Pacific Hotel)
