The Cajun Kings at Jalan Riang: I Would Come Here Again for the Gumbo

Was sad to see the Australian restaurant Jules close down. I wonder why, because it was very popular. In it’s place is The Cajun Kings where I’ve found a new favourite – Gumbo. It was my first time trying it and I’m hooked. The owner is from San Franciso (I googled) and he was inspired by the seafood places in New Orleans so this place feels very authentic indeed. The seafood is expensive though and I found it messy (no matter how authentic) to dip my hands into those huge plastic bags. The young girl serving us was lovely. Excellent service and she took her time to explain all the various items on the menu. You could see that she was trying her utmost. And for me it was absolutely refreshing to get good service in Singapore.

There are sinks to wash your hands so you can eat as messily as you want. Parking might be a problem though. The restaurant is located next to the very popular Wimbly Lu where you can head for dessert. If you can get a seat that is.

The boss of Jules – Jules, has opened a restaurant in the shop houses in front of chump chump. Donot know the exact name. I bumped into him on the street, he told me so.
