I must admit I am as repulsed by Amy Chua’s methods as Kirsten was. I am totally against fear inspired bullying methods whether at home, at the workplace, or by government. The end does not justify the means.
You can read my take about the Singapore Tiger Mum at Singapore Actually.

I actually feel better now that her daughter has written an editorial, and since hearing that her book isn’t completely about being a Tiger Mum, and actually deals with having to back off because her 2nd daughter was having none of it. That is much more natural and acceptable, I feel.
I must search out what her daughter wrote….sounds interesting. They seem like very protective kids which any mum is lucky to have.
I absolutely agree, Kirsten.
